separates Lui Shou Kwan from us, his art is a bridge used to communicate to us people of the future. He is a very renowned artist that I would like to meet. The paintings he made reminds me of the scenery back in my home country of the Philippines. I'd ask him how he saw each of his paintings, what he meant for us to see in them, and the words they spoke and their deeper meanings. I'd ask him about why he incorporated the lotus flower into some of his paintings. I would want him to show me how he made each brushstroke and the techniques he used. I want to find as much peace in making my art as Lui Shou Kwan did, how he took a piece of paper and turning it into a piece of art. Lui Shou Kwan is a much respected artist who inspired many other artists through his New Ink movement. I want to be as much of an inspiration as he is to others.

Pale Blue DotOur posturings; our imagined self importance, the delusion that we have some kind of priveledged position in the universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Every victory, every loss, every moment of glory and all the moments of grief mean nothing when the vastness of our universe is put into perspective. So what's the point in all this? At one point of our lives we ask ourselves this very question. Why struggle to achieve when it doesn't matter to the rest of the universe? We have to give it a meaning. you have to make it mean something to you. It is your job to make every word, every action and every turn in life have a significance, make it something you can reflect on to grow as an individual. The reason our species has gotten this far is because we live our lives with a reason. We should learn how to humble ourselves before others, because at the end of the day we are all floating on a speck of dust floating around in this ever expanding universe, because we all live on a pale blue dot suspended in a sunbeam.
